Western Montana Transit is a service provided by Western Montana Area 6 Agency on Aging. Our transportation services get passengers to and from medical appointments, essential errands, access to food, social events, airport arrivals and departures, and more. We also can deliver prescriptions! Our vehicles are driven by qualified employees and volunteers who are committed to providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation. Our fleet includes wheelchair-accessible and low-entry vehicles to better accommodate passengers with a variety of mobility needs.
We welcome all to utilize our services for your transportation needs! Whether you need a ride to an appointment, help getting essential supplies, or transportation to stay connected with your community, Western Montana Transit is here to help. Since we book on a first-come-first-serve basis, it’s best to book local rides with 24 hour notice and Missoula or Kalispell rides with 48 hour notice.
Our ride fares vary depending upon pick-up and drop-off locations, and range from $5.00 to $44.00. Please call for specific fares (406) 676-2367 ext. 1.
VOLUNTEERS WELCOME
The Western Montana Area 6 Agency on Aging’s Western Montana Transit program provides rides to medical appointments, shopping, and social activities. Our vans are driven by qualified volunteers or staff, and are available for transportation within Lake County and, with 48 hours’ notice, to Missoula and Kalispell.
Many of our passengers are Medicaid Eligible, and the majority of our trips are to provide transportation to medical appointments. This program enables community members to access safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to medical appointments and maintain their health and well-being. Lack of transportation is often a serious obstacle for those who no longer drive, or those without their own transportation, when it comes to accessing the medical services they need. This is especially true in areas without many public transportation options. Transportation services, especially in rural communities such as ours, are crucial in allowing everyone to live healthier, more fulfilling lives, regardless of age, ability, or income.
We do require 24 hours minimum notice for local rides, and 48 hours notice for rides to Missoula or Kalispell. Our rides are scheduled on a first-come first-serve basis.
